The vintage style coat is big this season. Preferably in something tweedy, whether brown wool or Chanel style silk, and perhaps decorated with a brooch from Grandma's collection of costume jewels.

Generally when using a patterned fabric one attempts not to bulls-eye the breasts. From the posing of the model and the name of the design - Cherry Picking - i can't tell if this is intentional or not...

The lure of yarn

it was so folorn sitting in the Big W bargain bin.

The fleur is 50% mohair, 30% wool and 20% nylon, and i made a mauve wrap earlier in the year from other $2 balls from the same shop.

The angel is one of those dark core, bright fire-work-ey nylon fibres. 37% nylon, 30% acrylic, 12% poly, but surprisingly 10.5% mohair and 10.5% alpaca.

phone photos are pretty sucky but i can't be bothered getting the real camera out.

If you really really have to do the pink tweed Chanel style suit this season, at least make it in a silk tweed rather than one of those cheesy acrylic versions that gather in swarms in discount fabric stores.

There are a couple of nice patterns for it - this one's a nice shape and has more now fashionably three quarter sleeves - Show Item. And in Melbourne at least, at Clegs, you can get the silk tweed.

Start with the shoes
They say you should start with the shoes when building the outfit. However i started out with a set of requirements for shoes and built the outfit first.

Lucky i found the shoes:

Butterick 6067
The dress i wore to my 30th birthday party. I actually fit into it again so it might be my christmas dress if i find the right support garments.

This dress caused some comment at the office. More about how she managed to keep it in position.

The answer is tape. Double sided tape. There's a variety sold in department stores for about $20, but you can get "ResQ tape" from habadashery places for about $7.

You stick your dress to your bits and off you go.
